CHESTER, Pa. (March 1, 2017) – The France Women’s National Team pulled out a 2-1 victory against England, coming from behind to score two second half goals, including a dramatic game-winner in the final moments. It was the opening game of the first doubleheader in the 2017 SheBelieves Cup at Talen Energy Stadium with the nightcap featuring the United States vs. Germany at 7 p.m. ET live on FS1 and FOX Sports GO.
Midfielder Jordan Nobbs was aggressive in the attack early and often, finding the back of the net on her third strong opportunity of the game with a low right-footed finish from distance in the 32nd minute. The hard shot skidded under diving France goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi and into the lower left corner. Jill Scott picked up an assist on the play.
France flipped the game and dominated possession in the second half, scoring an equalizer in the 80th minute when forward Marie Laure Delie finished a diving header off an Elodie Thomis cross from the right. Late in stoppage time, towering defender Wendie Renard, who was a 66th minute substitute, converted on an Amel Majri corner kick to give France win.
The SheBelieves Cup continues Saturday, March 3 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. as France squares off against Germany at 2:15 p.m. ET on FOX Sports GO and the USA hosts England at 5 p.m. ET on FOX and FOX Sports GO. The final pair of games takes place on Tuesday, March 7 when Germany plays against England at 4 p.m. ET on FOX Sports GO and the U.S. wraps up the competition against France at 7 p.m. ET on FS1 and FOX Sports GO.
