The U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Germany 2-1 to win the 2016 SheBelieves Cup on Wednesday night at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida. Down 1-0 in the first half after a 29th-minute goal from Germany’s Anja Mittag, the USA scored twice in the period to take the lead. Alex Morgan tallied in the 35th and Samantha Mewis scored the title-clenching goal six minutes later in her first start of the competition. With the win, the USA improved its 2016 record to 9-0-0.
In addition to the team title, Morgan earned the tournament’s Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards, while Hope Solo was awarded the Golden Glove after she allowed just one goal over three matches.
The U.S. WNT returns to action in April when it squares off against Colombia on April 6 in East Hartford, Connecticut (7 p.m. ET, FS1) and again on April 10 in Chester, Pennsylvania (2 p.m. ET, ESPN).
