The Development Academy’s U-13/14 age group, in the midst of its second season, will kick off the first of three regional events starting this weekend for the Central teams at Grand Sports Park Campus in Westfield, Indiana. The regional setup is an invaluable opportunity for clubs as they will play three meaningful games while being scouted and evaluated by U.S. Soccer Technical Advisors.
Grand Sports Park, which features more than 30 grass and turf fields and is located north of Indianapolis, was the host site of the inaugural season’s end-of-the-year U-13/14 National Showcase, as well as the location of the 2013-14 Academy Playoffs for the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups.
Following the Oct. 25-26 regional showcase, the U-13/14 Academy teams in the East will meet at BB&T Soccer Park from Nov. 8-9 in Advance, North Carolina, near Winston-Salem and Greensboro. This was the site of the first East regional event in 2013.
The third U-13/14 showcase for the West region takes place from Nov. 15-16 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, California. This also was the regional location for last year’s event.
Games are open to the public and free of charge.

The Academy launched its U-13/14 age division in the fall of 2013, and the program is based on the same philosophy as the older Academy age groups with an emphasis on more training sessions and playing meaningful games. The U-13/14 Academy season incorporates both outdoor play in the fall and spring, a National Showcase in the summer and a focus on futsal in the winter.
