CHICAGO (Aug. 7, 2014) – U.S. Paralympic National Team head coach Stuart Sharp has named the 16-player roster for the upcoming domestic training camp taking place Aug. 9-16 in Chula Vista, California, ahead of the 2014 Copa America starting Aug. 19 in Toronto.
“I am personally excited about getting back on the training field with the players and starting preparations for the Copa America,” Sharp said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how they have progressed since we last gathered as a squad.”
The PNT last met in July for a training camp following a second-place finish at the ninth International Trophy of 7-A-Side Football in Barcelona, Spain.
The roster includes 12 players who participated in the team’s July camp and two players who are returning from injury in Shea Cassidy and Gavin Sibayan. Midfielder Seth Jahn will make his PNT debut, and defender and 2012 Paralympic Games member Chad Jones has been called into his first camp under Coach Sharp.
Players who have Cerebral Palsy, suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury yet are ambulatory may be eligible to play for the U.S. Paralympic National Team. Interested players should contact U.S. PNT head coach Stuart Sharp (firstname.lastname@example.org) or team manager Pam Perkins (email@example.com)
