U.S. Soccer Auctioned Off Game-Worn Jerseys and Warm-up Tops from MNT vs. Germany on June 2 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. and WNT vs. Korea Republic on June 15 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
CHICAGO (July 1, 2013) – With the support of each teams' Players Association, the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams have raised a total of $60,276.95 through an online auction of game-worn jerseys and pre-game warm-ups to benefit the Victim Relief Fund of the One Fund Boston charity. The One Fund Boston was formed to assist victims and families affected by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013 and in the days that followed.
U.S. Soccer’s online auction featured the jerseys and warm-up tops signed by the players that wore them from the U.S. MNT Centennial celebration match vs. Germany on June 2 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., and from the U.S. WNT vs. Korea Republic match in the Boston area on June 15 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
A total of 2,422 total bids were made on 72 total items during the two one-week auctions.
U.S. WNT forward Alex Morgan’s game jersey earned the highest bid at $4,610. Every item got more than 10 bids. The highest number of bids on one item was for the jersey of U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo, which received 60 bids.Fans can still log on to www.onefundboston.org to donate or find out more information @OneFundBoston.
