U.S. midfielder Jermaine Jones has been ruled out of Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mexico after suffering a sprained left ankle in the USA’s 1-0 win against Costa Rica on March 22 in Commerce City, Colo.
Jones did not travel with the team to Mexico, and no replacement will be added to the 23-man roster.
Jones received the injury in the first half, which required two stitches during the interval. He continued play until being subbed out in the 83rd minute.
The U.S. resumes World Cup Qualifying when it faces Mexico on Tuesday, March 26, at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The game kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN and Univision. Fans can also follow the game online via ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and on Twitter @ussoccer.
